Sullivan High School hosted the CPS North Side Playoff's, Mr. David Berrol, the school's chess coach, the chess team, & Assistant Principal Luis Velazquez, all had been very busy preparing for the event. Upon early morning arrival for set up we were warmly welcomed by the school who had accommodated the needs for the tournament for space, chairs, & extra manpower. The Sullivan HS chess team was there to help & to raise money for their club by providing food for sale. Twenty-Nine schools (254 players) plus coaches, parents & siblings, attended. There was a coaches meeting, 5 rounds played & awards. The awards were presented by Mr. Darrin Osborne, Chicago Public Schools Chess Coordinator, National Chess Master Esad Elezaj, & Mr. David Heiser of Renaissance Knights Chess Foundation.  We would like to thank Sullivan High School for their concerted effort to make this tournament a success. Congratulations to all the winners & students who placed for the CPS Championship!
