CONGRADULATIONS TO ANUPAMA RAJENDRA

WYCC2012Join us in congratulating Anupama Rajendra (3rd from right in the picture) who recently returned the World Youth Chess Championships in Maribor, Slovenia! The competition featured more than 1,500 players from nearly 100 countries. Anupama qualified for the tournament by winning the All Girls US National Championship in April. At the WYCC, she competed in the Under 12 Girls category where she won five matches and played to a draw in another. What an accomplishment - we are all very proud of her!  Read Anupama's account of her experience

We Need Your Help

We have partnered with a cluster of Title I schools in Chicago where we will pilot our Chess in the Classroom program.

Donate nowWe need to raise $100,000.00 to bring chess into the classroom and we look to you during this critical time to ensure that the program will reach underserved students in our participating schools. Will you make a tax-deductible donation now to help these deserving students?

BRING CHESS TO YOUR STUDENTS

Thinking about adding chess classes to your school's enrichment program? We hope you will consider Renaissance Knights, Illinois' premier chess organization. We do more than teach the game of chess; we help children build skills that lead to academic success. Classes are structured, well-managed, and designed to build a child's confidence, as well as a love for the game that will last a lifetime.

"Wow, Adrian really enjoyed his first chess lesson.  Thank you for doing this!"

ALL-GIRLS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS - APRIL 20-22, 2012

AllGirls2.jpgWhen 11-year-old Anupama Rajendra entered the 18 & Younger section here at the All-Girls National Championships , she expected one of the higher-rated players to claim first place.

But thanks to discipline and self-study, Rajendra - who had a pre-tournament rating of 1569 -- emerged as the sole victor in her section after scoring 5 out of 6 points.

The victory makes Rajendra, of Kenosha, Wis., the youngest girl in the nine-year history of the All-Girls National Championships to win the 18 & Under Section, tournament organizers confirmed.
